I'm attaching an example.

Basically what happens is this - for the case with a menubutton you can set a 
"buttonaction" custom event handler - which gets inherited by anonymous content 
as "oncommand". (there is an inner button in the anonymous content). The problem 
with this is that if you pass something like "buttonaction=foo(this)" the 'this' 
that the code uses is the anonymous content button object instead of the 
menubutton object in the non-anonymous content.  See attached test case.
