The Timeline page on www.mozilla.org hasn't been touched in a while, so we should get this up to date in time for the 10th anniversary. I just posted an attachment that includes new milestones since 2005, fills some gaps in the early history of Mozilla and adds an introduction paragraph. I also took out a couple milestones since the list was getting a little long. If anyone has comments or suggestions, let me know.

Can you attach this as a patch? Also, please use mozilla.org :: www.mozilla.org for issues with www.mozilla.org.

Firefox 1.5 seems to be missing. Thunderbird 1.5 and Thunderbird 2 as well.
Would it make sense to also list the "official" end of "Mozilla Suite" and the "SeaMonkey project" forming?
What's the "purpose" or "goal" of this timeline? To list milestones in the development of the organization, or milestones in the development of its blessed/flagship product(s)? If we're talking about the organization as a whole, some things like the donation of calendar code and start of the Calendar project (today Sunbird/Lightning), the open-sourcing of crypto, mozilla.org adoption of Camino (then Chimera), end of Mozilla 1.x/beginning of SeaMonkey, MiniMo project, Tamarin donation, and--since you mention the beginning of relicensing--the end of relicensing all seem like candidates for the page, particularly since there's a mention of a third-party app (Netscape) there at the end....
Also, I care less about the removal of the Community Awards program, but the removal of the Bug Bounty program (or more specifically, the *Security* Bug Bounty program) seems wrong. That program not only led to a small surge in security bugs filed, but also led to some pretty serious contributors (contractors or otherwise) to our security program. Given mozilla.org's focus on security in all its projects, I think this is important to keep.
I would also suggest Firefox/Thunderbird releases. Also the creation of the Mozilla Corp and the spinning out of Thunderbird to MailCo were pretty major events.
Attached patch Patch for Timeline page (obsolete) — Splinter Review
A new patch has been posted that addresses earlier comments. Specifically: - I have no idea what the original goal of the Timeline page was, but I think today it makes sense to have a place to post information about events that are important to the Mozilla community. Milestones in the development of the organization and milestones in the development of flagship products are both important so I think both should be included. It could get confusing to have both types of milestones mixed together though, so I split up the Timeline into a Community Milestones section and a Major Software Releases section. - I added Fx 1.5, Tb 1.5 and 2.0, Phoenix 0.1 and Netscape 6 to the Major Software Releases section. I couldn't find a date for the creation of the m/b project, so I went with the Phoenix 0.1 release but we can change this. I also added Netscape 6 (but not later Netscape releases) since it was an important milestone, but I don't think the page needs to be Netscape-centric. - I'm fine with adding release dates for other official projects such as Camino, and Calendar or adding other events such as the donation of Tamarin, but we do need to draw a line somewhere since the list of dates would be unusable (IMO) if it got too long. - I added the Bug Bounty milestone back to the Timeline and added the date for the release of the roadmap that details the switch from the suite to Fx and Tb. - The creation of MoCo and MailCo are both already in the list. If anyone would like to add other milestones, please provide dates and relevant links if you have them.
Attachment #295245 - Attachment is obsolete: true
I would propose the following milestones from the SeaMonkey project: 2005-07-02 - Initial announcement of the SeaMonkey project - http://www.seamonkey-project.org/news#2005-07-02 2006-01-30 - Release of SeaMonkey 1.0 - http://www.seamonkey-project.org/news#2006-01-30 2007-01-18 - SeaMonkey 1.1 - http://www.seamonkey-project.org/news#2007-01-18
Attached is a patch with the SeaMonkey milestones added. Since this new version of the Timeline is now much more complete and current than the existing Timeline page, I'd suggest making this live and we can add any other milestones to the live page as needed. Any objections?
Attachment #295411 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Since there were no objections or suggestions for other additions, I've made the new Timeline page live and am closing this bug. Feel free to reopen if there are other milestones to add or any existing items to change.
