(Whiteboard: [closeme 2009-12-01][needs retesting by reporter])
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.9 (2007.10.31)
Bug 1- In the filtered inbox message, the to, from, and subject are correctly copied to local folder, but the text is copied from a completely different Email-one already in the inbox at the bottom (last in list) of the pane.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.message filter set up to copy incoming Email with match any of a number of specified to/cc addresses to another local folder
2. inbox Emails arranged in date order with newest Email at top of pane another at the bottom of list
3. bcc email to self so it comes into inbox and is filtered
4. the to, from, and subject are copied to local folder correctly but text is copied from a completely different Email-the one at the bottom (last in list) of the pane.
5. delete the Email at the bottom of the pane but now it copies the next to bottom message text that is now at the bottom of the list (pane)
Actual Results:
the to, from, and subject are copied to local folder correctly but text is copied from a completely different Email-the one at the bottom (last in list) of the pane.
Expected Results:
message header and message text should agree and not provide the same wrong text from the bottom of the list message every time
Bug 2. - message filter set up to move incoming Email with specified to/cc address to the local folder copies Email correctly but does not move a bcc to myself from the inbox, it only copies it.
Question: Why are we not allowed to filter messages from the Sent box as they are sent? It would save the unwanted bcc to own inbox, which can not be moved with a filter see Bug 2 above.
What I want is to be able to easily place a copy of all Emails to and from clients by me or anyone that cc's me into a local chronological folder-- a simple, facile function, right? It does not work now without multiple bugs, if at all!
Summary: message filters - copy to folder function copies text (not header info) of another Email located at bottom of inbox → message filters - copy to folder function copies text of another Email located at bottom of inbox (header info copies correctly)

Have you tried folder properties | "Rebuild index"?
Filter outgoing messages is bug 11039.
Please, keep it one issue per bug.

Rebuilding the index file causes the header data (to, from, subject, date) to revert to match the incorrect text of the message, i.e. the only correct information (n the header) is lost, so now there are groups of messages with the same (incorrect) date, to, from, subject, that now match the incorrect text.

There is no need for extensive quoting of previous comments in bugzilla.
Note that the rebuild index doesn't touch the actual mail data. Try also deleting the .msf file for the affected folder - it will get rebuilt. Find it in your profile folder, http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder
Deletion of the .msf file causes a rebuild with incorrect summary data being displayed corresponding to the incorrect message text data. Apparently the correct message text was not copied to the folder, only the correct identifying information that is displayed in the inbox summary pane was correctly copied. Upon rebuild, or .msf delete and rebuild, the once correct header data in the summary pane is rebuild to match the incorrect message, so the header data in the summary pane now matches the message so the same message from the bottom of the inbox appears over and over and over again. Thus, after a rebuild or .msf delete and rebuild the message header data in the summary pane then matches the wrong message data copied from the bottom of the inbox.
The message is being copied from the inbox to a subfolder in the local folders.
I have made another new different subfolder using the same message filters but get the same results.

Are you using any extensions? (Try disabling in case you do.) You can also open the mail folder with a text editor and check if the messages moved have been written out wrongly somehow.
The only extension operating was 2.0.0.9 Talkback. I will disable it.
The subject/sender/date Email list pane data comes from the incoming message but the to/from/subject/date/text in the Email message pane located below the list pane comes from the oldest email in the inbox. The subject/sender/date in the list pane does not match the subject/sender/date in the message pane.
