We're going to have a Kannada localization for Firefox 2.

Shankar, H P, do you have any suggestions on changes to the list of search engines, or the Feed readers? What would be a good news feed for Kannada?

http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines is giving some rationale, most of which should easily apply for Firefox 2 as well.

I guess we should be able to reuse some of our experience from other Indian languages, i.e., yahoo.in and ebay.in, and stick to amazon.com. I'm not sure if http://kn.wikipedia.org/ is already attractive, it only has some 5000 articles.

Mic, any ideas on your side?

I did some preliminary research and found these possibilities?

for search engine's we can use the list we've built for Hindi or Bengali - are
there search engine's that have been built in the Kannada language? here's what
I've found thus far:

maybe there's something in one of those that would be useful to include?

RSS Readers - this is more difficult - I'm hoping you may know of some Kannada
readers that are available? if not maybe there's a next best major language we

Both KannadaPrabha and Prajavani aren't yet in Unicode. They don't seem to have RSS feeds either. For Search, I'd recommend that we stick to Google Kannada since that is the best available search engine to search in Kannada Unicode. 

So, here are my suggestions:

Live Bookmark:
Sampada (http://sampada.net)
Feed: http://sampada.net/node/feed
Rationale:
Constantly changing relevant content from the largest Kannada community on the Internet. Locally relevant and completely in Kannada. No ads, simple interface.

Global search
Google Kannada (http://www.google.com/intl/kn/)
Rationale: 
Best user experience and broadest results. 

e-Commerce Search 	
KannadaStore (http://www.kannadastore.com/)
Kannada specific products, with minimal advertisements.

Specific interest 	
Kannada Wikipedia (http://kn.wikipedia.org)
Good user experience (no ads, simple interface), popular site 	RSS Reader 	

Google Reader
Better suited for Kannada feeds (font-size, flexibility in configuration).

Mic, I think this needs your comments on the suggestions here in the bug.

As for google, we'd like to stick with the global google plugin, I would hope that does that right thing with a combination of geo-location and accept-lang preferences.
