The page currently describes the worst UI in all of Camino: adding a new search engine by hand :P For 1.6, we need to replace those instructions with instructions on using the new editor and on adding OpenSearch engines, and include links to known good OpenSearch providers (please list those in this bug).
We also should point out that some sites are still offering only, or half/half, the obsolete Sherlock format, e.g. Mycroft and AMO's https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:4 )
The search docs are complete in my local tree; work on http://caminobrowser.org/documentation/searchplugins/ is ongoing.

(I'm the Mycroft Project Owner...) While you're welcome to 'borrow' content, I suggest you at least provide an equivalent to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/jsreq.html if you're going to copy the linking method ;) thanks for the link though. I'd also be grateful if you could change MyCroft -> Mycroft (the c is not capitalised being the name of Sherlock - as in the other search specification - Holmes' brother)
Hi, Charles. I'm sorry about that; I had no idea where that code came from when I started working on this page. I've made the corrections you've suggested. I was also planning on emailing to ask if you might add Camino to the "[OpenSearch Icon] OpenSearch is supported by [Firefox Icon] Mozilla Firefox 2 and [IE7 Icon] Internet Explorer 7." line on the Mycroft front page so that Camino users arriving from our page won't feel quite as confused. There's a suitable 16x16 Camino icon at http://caminobrowser.org/img/camino16.png
FIXED, both live and on stage for 1.6.

I know this isn't related to this bug but I don't have Camino so can't tell if it's accurate or not... please test and file as necessary. Have had two 'judges' from Camino users reporting that this plugin: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html?name=allmusic - Artist%2FGroup&opensearch=yes&skipcache=yes&submitform=Search Crashes Camino Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080417 Camino/1.6 (like Firefox/2.0.0.14) Unknown freezes browser Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080409 Camino/1.6 (like Firefox/2.0.0.14) It works fine in Firefox, can you confirm that the POST method is supported by Camino?
Wow, it sure does. We don't support POST, but it's certainly not supposed to crash. Filed as bug 430058; thanks for letting us know!
