No news from sage. even their developers don't reply. anyone else taking this responsiblity
development process can be followed here: http://sage.blat.co.za/
actual version is 2.0.0rc1 which will be released to a.m.o if/when free of bugs :)
Sorry for the radio silence guys, Sage 1.4 is under development and should be out later this month. You can follow FF3 compatibility work here:

There's talk at the Sage Blog (http://sage.blat.co.za/) of a code fork because the "official" Sage team (Peter Andrews) has been neglecting Sage for so long (a valid concern). Instead of forking the code, I would suggest that the authors at the Sage Blog receive management co-control over the official Sage code here and also recognition for their contribution.
There was no reply from Sage team not even they are working or not. No body knew what they are upto. FF3b5 was released and no updates...not even if they are not working. Mike took effort and resolved bunch of issues related to sage and now its functional. This is really a bad for Open Source community. Just imagine if mozilla stops updating their browser and no reply from them. How frustrating it would be. These kind of responsibility makes open source enemies justify their point. Thanks Mike for taking effort. Sage was used by lots of ppl and atleast they could have declared that it would take time or they will be working on this.
Peter, Jigar, as developers, your frustrations are understandable. Of course, if you feel strongly about it, you are welcome to fork and start your own project under a different name, as our code base is offered under the terms of the MPL[1]. Sage, however, will continue to be developed (or neglected) as I see fit.

Why are there complaints about this /after/ Peter said Sage 1.4 would be available later this month?
Jigar,

Actually this points out why open source is great! If sage was was proprietary software and owned but a private company that is only driven but economic concerns it would be locked up behind some firewall and protected against reverse engineering and modification by patents and copyright laws. Users would we in a real bind under those conditions, and there would be absolutely zero opportunities like peter andrews points out in comment 7. Instead, because of open source there are opportunities. The same would be the case if for any reason mozilla had to stop developing firefox, or that many believed that it took firefox development in the wrong direction.

If you hear of open source enemies that try and make that argument, turn it around. Tell the example of this bug. Tell then fact that Netscape put their code into open source so it could thrive and take on new life well beyond what they could sustain in their business lifetime. Tell them the story of Mozilla and Firefox bringing microsoft back to browser development after saying they would discontinue all new updates to the browser because they didn't think the could affort it, there was no business case to support it, and that they really didn't think users needed/wanted any more innovation in web browsers...

PAndrews - AMO is ready for "3.0.*" maxversions. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help get an updated Sage on AMO. Firefox 3RC1 is likely to be released before the end of month.
... and now RC1 has been released. Would be great to see this on AMO!
Update: we'll be testing our Sage 1.4 release over this weekend with the goal of pushing it to AMO on Sunday evening.

Too bad you waited so long. Mike forked Sage and created "Sage-Too" (http://sage.blat.co.za/). Sage-Too has been upgraded to with Firefox 3 since mid May 2008. Sage-Too has numerous improvements over Sage, and it is also already up on AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7263

It's a pity it came to this. Now users have to decide between two virtually identical Add-ons - instead of having the benefit of combined effort.

In that absence of cooperation, I'm hoping for active competition. :-)

PS. I hope one of them will include my stylesheet as default:

Looks like 3.0.* was achieved. Reopening so we can figure out what might be happening for 3.1.

Beta 2 is out, and the last Beta (3) is planned for January, and then release candidates in Feb. 3.1b3pre is currently available as a maxversion setting on AMO

doc's on areas that might be accounted for in for compatibility with 3.1 are at

Summary: Sage addon not available/working for Firefox 3 → Sage addon not available/working for Firefox 3.1
Whiteboard: eta:?
Since there is no more Firefox 3.1 version planned we could:
a) close this bug (FIXED) referring to Firefox 3.0.x compatibility;
b) keep the bug open (REOPENED) with a bug title change: " Sage addon not available/working for Firefox 3.5".
Summary: Sage addon not available/working for Firefox 3.1 → Sage addon not available/working for Firefox 3.5
option b works for me.

peter, any thoughts on getting sage compat with 3.5?
I plan to release a compatibility update before 3.5 ships.
Sage 1.4.3 is pending review.
Sage 1.4.3 seems to work with the nightly builds too (Fx 3.6a1) after a "maxversion" bump. :-)

I'm a little confused (but not complaining!) about the two (or three) branches of Sage now available:

- The original "Sage" (by Peter Andrews'):
  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/versions/77

- "Sage++ (Higmmer's Edition)"
  http://himag.blog26.fc2.com/blog-entry-234.html?lang=en

- "Sage Too" (now discontinued)
  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7263

What are the *differences* (if any) between the two Sages, and have (or will) the improvements to Sage++(HE) been integrated into the original Sage?

FYI: Here are the recent improvements to Sage++(HE) (via Google Translate):
[Version 2.1.3] 2009/7/5
* The behavior of the feed and open a new tab (and related methods of operation and settings) revised (→ Details)
[Version 2.1.2] 2009/7/4
 * Change the folder icon
 * "Always open a new tab in the front" in the middle-click
on the / Ctrl-click the Time tab to open the Change Background
 * Fixed a problem on the following RAIBUBUKKUMAKU
o child entry is always "update feed" would be displayed in the
o it is open to the current tab to set the operation and open a
     new tab child entry
o can not be opened in the folder as a normal keyboard
[Version 2.1.1] 2009/6/14
 * Fixed not being recorded properly in the feed at Last

Subjectively, Sage++(HE) seems a bit better than Sage (original).

Are there any plans to incorporate the improvements in Sage++(HE) into Sage?

Are there any plans to incorporate the improvements in Sage-Too (if there are any?) into Sage?

Thanks!
Sage 1.4.3 is now available.

Awesome!
Heads-up: There seems to be a problem in recent 3.6 nightly builds81]: Sage folders don't open

BTW: I can't find Sage on mozdev.org anymore.

Peter A.: should I file a new bug on the (upcoming) Firefox 3.6 issue?
