The latest upgrades for Lightning have been great but now I can't add categories, can't edit the categories and can't add or edit the color of the categories for the Events within Lightning.

Robert, you have the ability to add and edit categories when you look at the menu: Tools > Options... > Lightning > Categories. At the moment you can't add or edit categories from the event dialog. Please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME if my comment helps you.
