On Fedora at least doing accidental horizontal mouse movements that generate a page back event in Firefox is ridiculously easy. According to bug 282140 this should no longer happen... setting mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action to 0 mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.sysnumlines to true fixes this as mentioned in http://jmatrix.net/dao/case/case.jsp?case=7F000001-B3319F-10FF83EBB70-49E It seems much more sensible for this to be set by default- going forward and backward in browser history is quite a radical action that doesn't seem to make sense on scrolling
