It would be nice if you could drag-and-drop a tab from one Firefox window to another (both windows being of the same Firefox process). Trying to do so with Minefield 3.0b3pre under KDE on Linux just results in the URL of the dragged tab being loaded again in the other window, rather than the desired behavior of the tab disappearing from the first window and reappearing in the second, without the URL of the tab being reloaded.

Doesn't the tab disappear from the originating window? It actually should since bug 298571 was fixed. Furthermore tab history will also be copied/moved as soon as bug 393716 is fixed.
bug 298571 mentions tag duplication when CTRL is held down during drag-and-drop. Holding down CTRL while D&D within a single window does duplicate the tab, but doesn't remove the original tab, so I don't see how it would be relevant to moving a tab from window to another.

Sorry if I misunderstood your point.
The patch checked-in in bug 298571 should do both: duplicating when Ctrl is pressed and moving when it's not - and both of it across different windows.

So dragging a tab from one window to the tab bar(!) of another should close the original tab...
Oops! For some reason I was expecting the behavior when dragging a tab to the *content* of another window to be the same as dragging a tab within the tab bar of the same window. Dragging from the tab bar of one window to a the tab bar of a second window acts as expected, except that it reloads the page rather than reparenting the document to the second window.
