No matter how annoying, splash screens are "Always on top" - meaning another
window can not be raised above the splash screen. this is to prevent users from
being confused on whether they actually launched mozilla already or not. (So
they don't relaunch it). This is also to make sure that the user sees the
beautiful splash screen that so-and-so created.
assigning to chofmann based on bug 32218.
currently the splash screen is not "Always on top" (in both the nightlies and
comm bits). I'm using comm bits from 5/30/2000.
gbush, does this happen with commercial bits?

neither activation nor the splash screen is "Always on top" on comm build for
windows 2000071208.
For clarity, on comm:
Splash sceen is not on always on top.
Activation is not always on top.
A good way to test this is to have another application open when you launch
netscape. When the splash screen appears, click on your other application and
you can move the other application over (hiding the splash logo) the splash
logo.

sorry, you are correct - 2000071308- I can move open app over splash,
ProfileManager and Activation screens.
Well, my belief is that we ought not do things that are intentionally
"annoying." If you want to stare at the splash screen, go right ahead. I
object to *forcing* people to stare at it if they don't wish to.
Ditto (in spades) for the activation screen). Why would we want to rub that in
people's faces? It's bad enough as it is.

personal opinions aside, does this need to be moved to bugscape if mozilla won't
implement it? I actually dislike that it takes forever to load mozilla, and if
the splash screen gets covered up, then it seems like mozilla is frozen and did
not respond.
What "opinion?" The fact of the matter is that it is silly to prevent the user
from doing what they want with their computer.
How is it better if the splash screen *doesn't* get covered up, and it seems
like the entire computer is frozen and does not respond?
