Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11
Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 2.0.0.9 (20071031), Lightning 0.7
When I first saw this I checked Lightning's timezone setting. It was wrong. I changed it to America/Toronto, then restarted Thunderbird. Same problem.
I marked this problem is Major, because now I don't trust the times I see in my calendar.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. I opened an email containing an email invitation for Jan 23 2008 between 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. The person who sent the email was using Outlook 97 and is just 20 minutes away from me (same timezone).
2. I accepted the invitation and saw it show up in the calendar correctly.
3. Later I closed then reopened Thunderbird.
4. When I switch to calendar view (whole month) it shows the event at 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM. If I double click it, same thing.
5. When I go back to the email part of Thunderbird, locate and click on the email that contains the invitation, then go back to the calendar view, it shows the correct time.

Can you export the event and put it here (stripe personal info). Probably another incarnation of the foreign timezone definition. This is about to be solved with bug 402518?

Known issue with foreign timezones and storage provider -> Bug 314339.
If I remember correctly it's being workaround in current 0.8pre nightly test builds by converting the event to UTC before storing.

So you do not need anything from me, right?

please retest with a nightly build:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/download.html
and let us know if it works with this build. A lot of code has changed and a lot of testing needs to be done still. Probably it's best to first make a coipy of your TB-profile or if you can use a fresh profile to test with.
I am seeing this bug, or a similar one. My timezone setting has not changed. Certain events always 'move' from their correct time to a time 5 hours later whenever I re-start lightning. If I click on the email containing the event, the event moves back to it's correct time. I have not verified if these events originate in a different time zone. I don't think they all do, nor do they all originate in the same time zone.
I am running under Ubuntu 7.04, Thunderbird 1.5.0.14pre, Lightning 0.7 build 2007102303
morbius or Ryan: can you reproduce this with a current nightly build (comment 4). We think a new code change (bug 402518) has fixed this.

I un-installed 0.7 and installed latest nightly build. When I look at my calendar, I now see the correct time for the event.

Morbius, does this also work for you now?
I cannot install the nightly build because it is not compatible with Thunderbird 1.5.
Comment 10•17 years ago

Ok. I have installed Thunderbird 2.0 and the latest nightly build of lightning and it appears the problem has been solved, at least for the existing events.

Morbius, 0.7 was the last release that supported Thunderbird 1.5. From 0.8 on we will only support TB 2.x. See http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/calendar/2007/10/future_of_lightning_support_fo.html
for more information.
Marking WFM based on the feedback from comment 7 and your feedback in comment 10.
