1. open viewer or browser 2. bring up netscape home page 3. you might get an assertion, just continue past it. I doubt it's related. 4. you'll only see the 2nd and 3rd column of the 3-column layout for this page.
tested on several other machines, this happens on all platforms, for at least the last 2 days. How did this get past daily smoke test? I haven't had any time yet to narrow this down. Chris Petersen: it would be VERY helpful to know what day this last worked correctly.

The problem is that 4.7 unlike 6.0 is redirecting index1.html to index.html. The pages are different.

netcenter needs to fix this.

talked with netcenter mngr, they are looking into this
I thought that the plan was that in Nav 6, the far left column was going to be efficetly displaced by the sidebar. Note that the far-left column starts with CNN news. One of the standard sidebar pannels *is* CNN news. There are a number of other subtle differences between the content served to 4.x vs 6, and I *think* these are "as planned". IMO, this is probably not a bug... and should be marked INVALID unless someone speaks up RSN.
Hmmm... Now that I see what the columns really are, I have to agree. However are we ever going to make sure all the elements of the left column are available in some form for the sidebar? It would seem to me that it could be a rather frustrating experience for a user to not find (e.g. say) weather which otherwise appears when he uses other versions. But then this may be a usability issue and be beyond the scope of this bug. Closing this as invalid.

actually that is what the netcenter person said - that he thought it was a design decision not to include that column and was checking into it. Jar's comment confirms this so I will mark closed.

A design decision to not include the top area as well? That's missing too, removing links to chat/webmail/my/download. Linux 2000-070420
ahh my bad - they're moved further down the page in the mozilla-version of the index page.
