Wanted to modify and resend a sent message. I forgot to select the Modify message option and wanted to delete a character while the message was displayed. The message was deleted. I tried to select the Edit option "annuler" means cancel in French". The title of the message was retrieved but the content of the message was  lost for ever.
That shouldn't happen. Before deleting the message a delete confirmation message should be displayed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Display a mail from any folder (received, sent, etc.)
2.Whne message is displayed click any part of the mail
3.press the delete key; as a consequence the message is deleted
4.Open Edit and select cancel; the title of the message reappears but the text is lost.


Expected Results:  
I could not get the message text back nd all the data where losta

Retrieve the complete message or display a delete confirmation request before deleting the message.

I cannot confirm this bug with TB Version 2.0.0.18 (20081105). Undo for deletion of local messages works as expected, restores complete message. Rene, check if you've got the latest version (2.0.0.18), and then please let us know if you can you still reproduce this bug.

Otherwise, I think this bug could be resolved wfm (worksforme).

@developers: Another case where a normal user is confused by the way DEL is redirected to delete the message regardless of where the focus is (not a strong case, but still... cf. bug 315144). At least whenever an explicit selection (of text or attachments) has been made by the user and that selection has focus, (Shift+)DEL should NOT delete the message (cf. also RFE bug 374853, shift+del on focussed text should not delete message).
Another case which supports the RFE for confirmation msg before deletion, at least for shift+del (bug 308690).

Rene, if you want confirmation before message deletion for DEL pressed on message body, please post a separate Enhancement bug for that. Since thunderbird developers can't even agree on confirmation msg for "real deletion" (shift+del), I don't think we are likely to get confirmation for normal deletion: DEL moves your message to Trash folder, from where it can easily be retrieved (or via undo).

This bug should be resolved worksforme as per comment #1.
I cannot confirm this bug on current nightly, either. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1pre) Gecko/20090618 Shredder/3.0b3pre

René, for the statistics and for later reference use, e.g. if something similar should happen again, please choose "Resolved worksforme" instead of "Resolved fixed" because your bug has never been confirmed and no one explicitly fixed it, so we don't know for sure if there was a bug in the first place.
