A middle click on the notification bar should close it. It is too difficult to move the mouse all the way to that small close button.

This seems like a reasonable enough idea...

Could we extend this to sidebar, and find bar, larry, and add bookmark dialog?

No.

I'm not really against the idea, but since very few users will know about this behavior it doesn't really solve the core problem of mousing all the way to the close button. I recommend we move forward with the planned redesign of notification for Firefox 4 and not spend too much time tweaking the existing UI.
