I had closed the task pane, because I don't use the calendar app to organize tasks. (Way too many, and a program never forgets, unlike bits of paper that get lost and buried.) Later, when I tried to manage calendars, I could not find the calendar tab anywhere.
The menu option View -> Task List is a good idea. But the "task list" pane should not also include the calendar list tab. Those are two different concepts.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Rating the bug as "normal", rather than "minor" because there is no way to easily find the workaround. I went through all the menu items and all the program options a dozen times, without ever realizing that "Task List" would restore the Calendar tab.

I don't understand how you managed to hide calendar list using "Task list" option. When I hide Task list the calendar list is still visible

Ok. I see how things happened. Choosing to view tasks
made the pane *reappear*, which came as a surprise,
because it was the only way to undo an action I had
taken earlier.
In 0.7 the panels are arranged like this:
menus
---------------+---------
Left Pane | Right Pane
|
Date Calendar | Event-list Display
Tabs Tab |
+----------------------------------------
|
| Calendar Display
---------------+
Tasks |
... |
I got more space for the calendar by closing that pane,
which I did by dragging the divider to the left.
A week or two later, I forgot I had done that. (Once
closed, there is still a narrow handle to grab, but
it was small, so I missed it.
(Now that I have that view back, I like the items in
the dates tab. I missed it, and felt the need for it,
but had forgotten that it ever existed.)
At this point, I'd change the bug to an RFE if I could,
and make it into a request for an extra menu item:
View -> Dates/Cal
That selection would make the Dates/Calendar tabs appear
and disappear:
- If both it and View->Tasks are turned off, the pane
would disappear and there would be more calendar space.
- If just Dates/Cal is turned off, the pane would have
more room for tasks.
- And if both were off, hapless victims of their own
memory lapses like me would have a less surprising
way to get back the pane they were looking for
(I would especially like to change the title of this
thing so it has beeter a chance of acquiring votes,
now that the real issue has been identified.)
Thanks for prompting me to take a deeper look.

Eric, please file a new bug for your enhancement request. That makes it much easier to keep track of things.
