I think I have found a bug in password managemenft of Firefox 3.0 beta 1 and beta 2:
Firefox has remembered pw and username for a http server. The server pw has changed.
If I know want access this server, Firefox' username/pw-dialogue opens pre-filled with the old and incorrect pw.
Until know, everything is as expected.
But if I now enter the correct (new) pw and confirm, Firefox does NOT display the rember-password-bar where the user can save the new pw.
The only solution is to remove the old pw via Firefox' settings before entering accessing with the new pw.
I'm not sure if this bug also affects passwords requested for proxy authentication.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Summary: Firefox fails to display rember-password-bar when accessing http-severs that already have a bad → Firefox fails to display rember-password-bar when accessing web-severs for that already a bad pw is remembered
Summary: Firefox fails to display rember-password-bar when accessing web-severs for that already a bad pw is remembered → Firefox fails to display rember-password-bar when accessing http-severs for that already a bad pw is remembered
Summary: Firefox fails to display rember-password-bar when accessing http-severs for that already a bad pw is remembered → Firefox 3.0b2 fails to display rember-password-bar when accessing http-severs for that already a bad pw is remembered
typo:
"If I know want access..." -> "If I now want to access..."

If the username is the same but you modify the password, the password manager should be automatically changing your stored password, without prompting.
After your scenario occurs, doe you get the right password when you reauthenticate again? [And/or check the stored password value in the prefs] If not, please enable the password manager debugging and paste/attach the log here. See: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:Password_Manager_Debugging

Yes, it does.
Reauthentication works, and the new password is correctly listed in the prefs.
This was my mistake. Sorry and thanks for the clarification.
