It seems that it is impossible to enter a task in Sunbird. There are lots of events in it, but adding a task is impossible. No matter how many times I try.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Apple + T
2.Enter a task
3.Save it
Actual Results:
There is nothing added in the calendar

Expected Results:
Same as when saving an event: That the task is visible.
Version: unspecified → Sunbird 0.7
What kind of a calendar do you use? Local storage? ICS? Google Calendar?
Locale storage for both events and tasks. With the only difference that I can't see tasks after saving.
For clarification: You save the task in a local storage calendar and it doesn't show up in the task list? Check that you have the corresponding option in menu View -> Task List enabled and that the sidebar is not collapsed.

Or are you talking about calendar view? In this case you need to enable the option in menu View -> Tasks in View and assign a start and due date to the task too.
I set it as you said. Everything works as it should.
You set the version field to 0.7. Is this correct? Have you tried this with the latest 0.8pre nightly?
