User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b2) Gecko/2007121120 Firefox/3.0b2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b2) Gecko/2007121120 Firefox/3.0b2 This behaviour happens from Notes 8, Mailwasher and Thunderbird. It used to work Ok, so I don't know what has happened. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Receive an email with a link in it. 2.Click the link. 3.Sit back and watch whilst Firefox opens a new window as if it was starting up. Expected Results: URL opens in a new tab You can select the link, Copy it and then paste in a new tab.
Look at this setting in about:config, and check if it is set to 3 (I think you want it on 3). http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_external
I have been having the exact same problem since upgrading to most recent version of Firefox on my Mac. External links (in emails) will not successfully navigate to the page, - only the home page comes up at launch. If FF is already running, then an external link (from emails) will open a new window to the URL successfully, but not from a "launch-and-go" situation.
I'm confirming the lionsong's issue. I'm experiencing the same since version 3.6 on Mac.
Yes... to clarify: the problem on Mac began as of the v3.6 update here as well.
Does this happen in a fresh profile?
Version: unspecified → 3.6 Branch
This same thing still happened in FF 4 and now I'm using FF 5beta and is still happening. Yes, it does happen with a fresh profile too.
