Thanks for catching this, Philippe.  I actually did test this specific case carefully, but only in my Xcode 3.0 builds.  Xcode 2.5 doesn't interpret the LD_DYLIB_INSTALL_NAME setting.  Xcode 3.0 does, and uses it as the -install_name argument to ld when building a dylib.  Xcode 2.5 overloads the definition of INSTALL_PATH for this purpose - Xcode 3.0 also supports this, setting the default value of LD_DYLIB_INSTALL_NAME to the name of the expected file at INSTALL_PATH.

I just checked this patch in on the trunk and 1.8 branch.
