User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.9 (20071031) A new mail alert will appear and the sound effect will play when a new email is delivered. If that email is not read, additional new emails will not show the alert or play the sound. So if an unimportant email is ignored, a later important email will go unannounced. There should be configuration options for both alerts and sounds: 1. Never play/show (existing option) 2. Play/show on first occurance (effectively, the current option) 3. Play/show every time (new option) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Options/General/When new message arrives: enable alerts and sounds 2. Receive an email but ignore it 3. Receive another email and don't get notified I currently do all IMAP, so it may be an IMAP only problem. But I suspect it's a problem for POP as well.
Confirming RFE. Now with the tb2 notification showing a summary, often I see it's something not so important, but I still "have to" click on it, not to miss other new mails I'd like to get notified about.

Is this still seen in version 3.1?
(In reply to comment #2) > Is this still seen in version 3.1? Using version 3.1.8 under Linux. There are actually two situations. I'm not sure if they both existed when I made the initial bug report. I am using Thundirbird for email for four separate accounts. The first situation is as described in the original report and is still a problem. The second is as follows: 1) Receive a new email on account1 and ignore it. 2) A new email comes in for account2. The alert notification displays, but it shows the information from the email from account1.
