User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008013004 Minefield/3.0b3pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008013004 Minefield/3.0b3pre Any page using Type 1 fonts shows text as gibberish - the wrong glyphs are displayed. For example, the characters 0123456789 produce the glyphs for OPQRSTUVWX. Examining the page source shows that the right character codes are present in the text; only the display is wrong. Non-Type1 fonts on the same page look fine. The Type-1 fonts, e.g. Helvetica and are installed on my local machine. The fonts work fine in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice 2.3 and in Firefox 2.0.0.11. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Type-1 fonts Helvetica and Garamond on the test machine. 2. Display a page containing text (see attached) using those fonts. 3. Actual Results: The wrong characters are displayed for the text. All characters appear to be replaced by characters having a unicode value 0x1F (31, decimal) larger than the correct value. For instance, the numeral "0", with unicode value U+0030, appears to be replaced by the letter "O", with unicode value U+004F. Expected Results: Normal display of text.
The unicode values of the erroneous output characters were guessed, based on visual inspection. I can't be sure whether I was looking an an en-dash or em-dash, for instance.
