It would be pretty cool, if events and tasks could automatically be created from a thunderbird message filter. This way I could for example filter my incoming bugmail and automatically create a task to do a review, if X-Bugzilla-Type *is* request AND Subject *contains* requested THEN Create A Task from this message This could start out quite simple (as above), and later be extended to -update/delete a task if a certain message is recieved (non-trivial) -allow custom fields to be set in the created task

IMHO a good issue for an add-on?!

If it's true that the Thunderbird and Lightning projects are going to be somehow integrated in the new MailCo company, then IMO things like this belong in the core code. Maybe the Thunderbird team will begin to work more closely with the Calendar team. Anyway, regardless if this enhancement is part of the core or an extension, it does seem like a really slick idea.

Philipp: Is your extension available somewhere - I couldn't find it anywhere. Or do you know of any other extension that realizes the described functionality? As for the bug: This would be an absolutely great enhancement!
Has there been any progress on this?
I'm a retired Software Engineer, could I contribute an add-on?
