Crash log from attempting to print email message in Thunderbird
My Thunderbird often crashes while trying to print a message on my Powermac, dual G5, running Tiger oS X, 10.4.11. If it crashes while attempting to print a message, I can successfully print the message right away after Thunderbird is restarted. Here is the console log from the latest Thunderbird crash while attempting to print an email message: 2008-02-19 09:32:29.803 thunderbird-bin[1473] CFLog (21): GetDiskFragment returns -2851 for <PrintPDE> when trying to load /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/Plug-ins/PrintPDE.plugin/Contents/MacOS/PrintPDE 2008-02-19 09:32:29.804 thunderbird-bin[1473] CFLog (22): Cannot find function pointer MyCFPlugInFactory for factory 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0xd6b85b0 </Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/Plug-ins/PrintPDE.plugin> (not loaded) 2008-02-19 09:32:29.922 thunderbird-bin[1473] WARNING: _wrapRunLoopWithAutoreleasePoolHandler got kCFRunLoopExit, but there are no autorelease pools in the stack. I recreated the bug with that new daily build version, by trying to print your email message: 2008-02-19 13:16:02.075 thunderbird-bin[1574] CFLog (21): GetDiskFragment returns -2851 for <PrintPDE> when trying to load /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/Plug-ins/PrintPDE.plugin/Contents/MacOS/PrintPDE 2008-02-19 13:16:02.077 thunderbird-bin[1574] CFLog (22): Cannot find function pointer MyCFPlugInFactory for factory 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x5d18580 </Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/Plug-ins/PrintPDE.plugin> (not loaded) Warning: unrecognized command line flag -foreground Crash reporter said the application didn't leave it any data to work with. Sorry, I forgot to copy the exact message. I'm still not 100% sure of my PowerMac. I've replaced two bad hard disks, and reloaded Tiger OS X on a new hard disk. I've tested the disks again, run memory tests again. It still crashes once a week or so, dying with the screen blank and the fans running at full blast. Thanks, Chris Shaker Christopher J Shaker wrote: > I've updated to Thunderbird version 3.0a1pre (2008021903) as of this morning.
Printing works fine for me. I open an e-mail, click on "print" and then on "Ok", and the e-mail is printed. - Thunderbird version: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080213 Thunderbird/2.0.0.12 - Build-ID: 2008021305 - extensions: - AccountEx [de] 0.2.3 - Allow HTML Temp 2.0.1 - Attachment Sizes [de] 0.0.8 - Clippings 3.0 - Contacts Sidebar [de] 0.6+ - German dictionary 1.0.1 - Display Mail User Agent [de] 1.5.2 - DOM Inspector 1.8.1.2 - Enigmail [de] 0.95.6.20080101 - Folderpane Tools [de] 0.0.5 - FoxClocks 2.3.14 - MinimizeToTray 0.0.1.2006102615+ - MR Tech Local Install 5.3.2.6 - Signature Switch 1.5.4 - Talkback 2.0.0.9 - Update Notifier 0.1.5.3
John, Chris, do you still see the issue in the latest supported Thunderbird version 2.0.0.12 or trunk nightlies? (Triagers, if yes, please remove CLOSEME from whiteboard)
Whiteboard: CLOSEME 2008-04-16
Yes, I still see the issue on 2.0.0.12, and my Mac is stable now. I removed the after market USB2 and Firewire 800 cards from my Mac. If I try printing right after running Thunderbird, it will print fine. However, when I try to print a message after reading a lot of email, it will crash. After it crashes, I relaunch Thunderbird, and it will print the message it crashed on just fine. I tried one of the nightly builds, and Find/Search Messages' was completely hosed. I can try one again in a few weeks... Chris Shaker
Also, I have *never* had a crash while printing from Firefox, with the last several versions. Chris
In case it is not clear, only the Thunderbird program crashes. Other programs on my PowerMac print just fine, and Mac OS X stays up and running. Chris Shaker

version 2.0.0.14 is now available. PLease test, update bug, with talkbackid if crashes. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback Was version 2.0.0.9 the first 2.x release that you ran? If not, did 2.x PRIOR to version 2.0.0.9 also crash?
Version 2.0.0.12 stopped crashing while printing when I updated my PowerMac to Leopard, the new Mac OS X ver 10.5.2... Now that I'm running Thunderbird 2.0.0.14, it still prints email just fine, too. Chris Shaker

Just verified that it is not reproducible for me on Thunderbird 3.0 on my Powermac, running Mac OS X ver 10.5.8 Chris Shaker
