User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008020504 Minefield/3.0b4pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008020504 Minefield/3.0b4pre When clicking and holding on the back button to select a page from the history, then selecting a page from the back button history, the page loaded isn't the requested one but is the last one visited. See the included movie -- notice that Slashdot was selected, but the browser loaded ZDNet instead, which was visited after Slashdot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Establish a history by visiting a few different sites 2. Try to go back more than one page in the Back button history 3. You're sent to the last page visited instead I tried this in safe mode as well with no change in behavior
Confirmed using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008020504 Minefield/3.0b4pre. Here is the steps I followed: 1. Open a fresh tab. 2. Load the following sites in this order: (1) yahoo.com, usatoday.com, canon.com 3. Hold the back button to get the list of sites. Select yahoo in list. Actual: USA site loads. Expected: Yahoo will load instead. I checked the Win XP nightly and I do not see the same behavior.

works for me on Mac 10.5 Firefox 3 Beta 3 Rc1 Build. I just need to hold the back button for a few seconds and then i see the tab history and can select an old history site and this site is also loaded correctly.
So there seems to be a clear difference to me in how this works on Windows versus how it is implemented on Mac. Much crisper on Windows, and if you operate quickly without holding down the mouse longer you will see what Jennifer and I saw quite easily.
How long are you holding it? I held the button down for several seconds before making a selection and I still get sent to the wrong site.
Tomcat was actually testing on a different build than we are (we are on the nightly). It seems on the Leopard and Tiger nightly even if I hold down the mouse button longer (a sec or so) I don't seem to get the right site consistently.
I can totally reproduce; very easy to do, with a huge impact.
