See testcase, this reminds me a bit of bug 388156. I have also a case where I got a large area of blackness when viewing a large dom with "view selection source". I will attach that testcase too (with screenshot), I think it's more or less the same issue.

To reproduce it with this testcase2: - Load the file, right-click select all and do "View Selection Source..." - Minimize the "View DOM source" window and raise it again. After that, I see that most things inside the window are black.

Confirmed. Not only is the rendering completely hosed, if you mess with the selection, the browser drags to halt and then freezes. Reproducible on both Vista and XP.

This seems like two different bugs Martijn, maybe the view selection source problems should be split out by themselves?

I don't know, they seem the same issue to me. Feel free to open a new bug for it, though.

Sorry, I completely misread your comment 3. I think the browser freezing part might very well be related to bug 365642. I'll leave a comment there about the testcase in here.

Moving to p3 because no activity for at least 1 year(s). See https://github.com/mozilla/bug-handling/blob/master/policy/triage-bugzilla.md#how-do-you-triage for more information

This is not reproducible on the latest Firefox Nightly 95.0a1 as described by the reporter.
Minimizing and raising back the View Source window works fine but resizing the same window is very sluggish and creates black spaces.
Updating the severity to new values to reflect the new severity system.

I can reproduce in release but not Nightly. Seems like bug 1817184 fixed this maybe?

Probably all of bug 1817184, bug 1816927, and bug 1818654 will have contributed to making this better.
