I have set the following preferences (sorry for approximative translation, I use a french version of Thunderbird) :
- Thunderbird > Preferences > Attached files > Attached files Folder > Save all attached files in this folder : /Users/arnaud/Desktop/Téléchargements
- Thunderbird > Preferences > Attached files > Actions on files > pps = open with application NeoOffice, etc. 

The problem is that when I double clic on an attached file in an email, the file is saved on the Desktop and not in the specified folder, so polluting my Desktop with hundreds of files in a week long. Then I have to clean it, paying attention to not erase my own files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set the preferences for Attached Files
2. Open an attached file in an email (not "save file in ...", just open it)
3. The file is saved on the Desktop and then opened with the right application

Are you talking about phenomenon by Bug 263830 and/or Bug 311292?
