in the alarm dialog when you click on details with a recurrent event it shouldn't pop to ask if we want to edit this occurrence only or all of them. the two solution we thought was either to change the word details for edit (which is what it's doing but isn't realy the goal) or to change the detail windows to have only a read only windows and not the edit windows (but it is more work for the next release)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create a recurring event in the past
2.click details in the alarm windows that just pop

Actual Results:
ask if we want edit only this occurence or all of them

Expected Results:
doesn't show this or expecting it before we click on details (if the label is edits instead of details)

I can confirm that "Details" is used in the alarm dialog. Clicking on that you are asked what to edit. This is a small UI issue. Cc'ing Christian.

Small but annoying ;-). I'd prefer that we never show the "Editing recurring event" dialog before the "Event" dialog pops-up.

The question is very annoying especially for the use case if one just wants to read event details for information purposes, only. Regardless if opened from the alarm dialog or from the calendar views.

I suggest to change the following:

Always enable "Calendar" & "Repeat"

If settings got modified which effect the series a question should pop-up asking if the change applies to the series or to occurrence only.

This should apply for Title, Location, Category, Attendees, Calendar, All Day, Start, End, Repeat, Reminder, Description, Link, Time Zone, Importance, Privacy, Status, Show Time As,

Example:

+----------------------------------------------------------+
Changing the title
+----------------------------------------------------------+

? Do you want to change the title for this occurrence
or change the title for the whole series?

[[All Events]] [Only this Event] [Cancel]
+----------------------------------------------------------+
But if the title of one instance has been changed before the dialog is opened, which title should be displayed? That of the series of of the specific instance? (same for all other properties)
Summary: [alarm dialog] details on recurrent event shouldn't ask to edit all/one occurence → Details on recurrent event in alarm dialog shouldn't ask to edit all/one occurrence

If people usually just want to see the details and not edit them, maybe add mouseover previews to the alarm list.

I use the calendar for bill payment reminders, which generally require login to
the provider site. But the calendar reminder popup does not offer the link -
only the "details" that allows me to display the calendar event entry, asks me
about "this" or "every" occurrence (for repeating events), and then displays
the event containing the link I wanted.
