when using the search box, when you finish typing the cursor at the end blinks from a "|" to a ".". Also, if you delete all the text in the search box, you're left with a "." halfway along the box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.ctrl f to bring up search box
2.type a word, watch the cursor at the end
3.delete the word to see the random "." being present
Actual Results:  
Not a lot, just an annoying "."

Expected Results:  
no "." present
