User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008021504 Minefield/3.0b4pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008021504 Minefield/3.0b4pre There is this particular character which is rendered as a square box containing the code "FFFD". This is what the character looks like: This is very common for chineese chars etc when you don't have a good font, but I have seen this particular character show up in the middle of normal english text. It's usually used where a ' character or something like that would be expected. Check out the screenshot I have attached to see what the problem is. Also surf to the URL attached to this bug to see if the problem appears on your machine as well. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
This character looks bad on FF 2.0.0.12 as well though, hmm...
It's used in place of ' when you use "smart quotes" and it's not using a font that supports them. Ditto the "smart" versions of "".
Marking invalid. I think this may also happen if people try to paste in "smart quotes" from a word processing program into a poorly programmed editor rather than using the “construction. http://www.dwheeler.com/essays/quotes-in-html.html Marking INVALID.
