User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020511 Firefox/3.0b3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020511 Firefox/3.0b3 After three times of Silverlight installs, Safari is the only browser that recognizes it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download Silverlight. 2. Install. 3. Watch a Silverlight page not think Silverlight is ready. 4. Do the same in Safari. The page will show correctly. Actual Results: The page showed correctly in Safari only. Expected Results: Both browsers should show the page correctly. I found another bug showing this issue exists on Windows with the nightly builds.

Silverlight shows up in the Plugins section of Firefox, but does not work.
Shouldn't this be a problem on Microsoft's part?
Still a problem in FF 3 Beta 4 From comments on MS forum they think Mozilla has broken the OBJECT tag. It may be an issue with object vs embed tags. MS activex uses the object tag. Flash still works but Flash developers used to generate both tags but now use alternate javascript plugin loaders like SWFObject script because of Eolas licensing issues.
what plugins section? afaik silverlight doesn't support minefield, and that's an expected state. i don't think this bug is valid. afaiu ms has been very clear that minefield isn't supported (yet).

Silverlight 2.0 will have support for Firefox3. Until then, FF3 is not officially supported by Silverlight. The medallion you see to install Silverlight is because the helper script silverlight.js is creating an object tag that FF3 can no longer parse. We're investigating this currently. A couple of things were also changed with Firefox3, so even if you create your own object tag to work with FF3, there will still be issues. However, we're fixing those in time for Silverlight 2.0. I'll resolve the bug as invalid since this is not an official scenario supported by Silverlight yet.

The new Silverlight 2 beta 2 works fine in FX3 now. The Silverlight contents on http://www.silverlight.net can be rendered correctly. But there are still many SL contents in other sites are not upgraded to new version. They cannot be displayed in FX3.
Awesomeness, it took me about 2 hours to figure out why my browser was crashing ... And it turns out to be this plugin, silverlight plugin.
