STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

- switch to calendar or task mode
- open the thunderbird menu
- choose 'Quit Thunderbird' or 'Preferences'

RESULT:

- nothing

EXPECTED RESULT:
================

- the preferences dialog should be visible or thunderbird should quits
