If you want open a file in firefox with the extension XPS ( the new format of Microsoft), and you haven't any plugin for this files, the browser firefox star to open a lot of tags, and you close the navigator and continue open a lot of tags, without open really the document. It can open thousands of tags

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Save one file with extension XPS ( you need print a document in word and choose this format)
2.Open the document
Actual Results:  
If you default navigator is firefox and open a file with extension XPS you have infinity loop

Expected Results:  
give a error message, or open correctly the document

It Can block a machine and endange one system

Removing security-sensitive flag.

Firefox should not be used as the default application for viewing XPS files.  For Windows XP, a separate viewer application can be downloaded from Microsoft.  In Vista, you will want to associate the XPS file extension with Internet Explorer which will be able to properly display the file.

That´s not the problem. Because of I have firefox like default browser and I do double click for open one xps file, and the file is opened for the default browser, in this case firefox, and if you do right click and choose open with xps viewer also is opened with the default browser, in my case firefox. the question is that in this case, I must open with IE, or change my default navigator

Sounds like bug 409558. Both that bug and this bug were probably fixed by bug 358297.

yes, it's true it's the same bug, but It`s not fixed at all. I tried it at home with windows vista and firefox updated and the bug still exits. If you open the file xps, firefox ask you if you want open or save, if you choose open and check the checkbox of items, the browser come in a infinity loop. With my version of firefox that I have in the job, is not needed do check in the checkbox for see the bug, only it's need with a update version of firefox. But of fact is that the bug still exits with a update version
