I often wind up having to change systems and forward email to put information in the right place. A Common Repository (CR) for email could serve four purposes: 1. Synchronize multiple emails across multiple names/systems. 2. Provide a common backup site on a file/backup server so that email would not be lost on a system crash or software error. 3. A repository could accept current email files from existing software, Tbird at least, to create the initial setup. 4. Provide a combined set of names, addresses, etc on the file server, accessible from any connected system. There are probably other uses for a email CR, even without considering possible small business opportunities. Thanks for considering this request. BillN Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
You need IMAP and an LDAP server... (both of which thunderbird supports, though writable ldap is not ready yet) ->INVALID, feel free to reopen (or file a new specific bug) if there is something of that those can't handle. IMAP mail is accessible from anywhere, stored (and can be backuped) on a central server. LDAP gives you a central address repository.
