Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080201 Firefox/2.0.0.12
Build Identifier: Eudora 8.0.0b2
While typing the body of an email a number of lines are visible, but then the typing goes off the page and one has to manually scroll to read what has been typed - the pane does not automatically scroll with the typing input.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. happens when a long e-mail message is typed.
2. this happens on the 17th line - line 18 does not show in the pane unless a manual scroll happens.
3.
Actual Results:
Simply type a message longer than 17 lines in the standard compose pane.
Expected Results:
As one types that message I would expect the pane to scroill automatically as used to happen in Eudora 7.

I am not able to reproduce this (with Eudora 8.0.0b3, not b2). Marking 'Works for me'

I take that back. I can PARTIALLY reproduce. While the 18th (or whatever it happens to be) like is not completely obscured for me, the status bar _partially_ obscures it _IF_ the compose window is maximized. If I use anon-maximized compose window, I do not see the problem.
Re-opening.

This seems to be a duplicate of bug 411233. As I stated there, I can also reproduce the behavior described, although I haven't counted the actual number of lines. I have verified that it does happen every time when certain font sizes are selected; specifically, when the default is selected. Choosing a _very_ large size (e.g. 36 pts.) avoids the problem, that is the compose window will scroll the text as expected. But that is hardly a solution.
Again, here is my environment:
Eudora 8.0.0b3 installed in /opt/eudora
Fedora 9
BTW, this is _not_ with a maximized compose window, but just the size it happens to be when I select Message|New or reply. And I can reproduce it every time.

I gave up and went back to Thunderbird, although I think Penelope will have certain features that Thunderbird does not have.
