According to bug 404611, we need to change the zh-CN default RSS feed URL to:
http://rss.sina.com.cn/news/marquee/ddt.xml

Mic, can you confirm that this is indeed a correct change?

Basically, the request is to change http://zh-CN.fxfeeds.mozilla.com/zh-CN/firefox/headlines.xml to point to http://rss.sina.com.cn/news/marquee/ddt.xml. This will change what Firefox 2 and earlier is using right now, too, so please keep that in mind. Axel usually does these all in a batch, so this could possibly be delayed until Axel is ready...

IT does handle these changes, as far as I know. See e.g. bug 377873.

I'm not sure what Axel usually does either - I've seen evidence in Bugzilla comments of localizers filing their own bugs, but I've also seen him mention filing a single request with multiple redirect changes once a few have accumulated.

Justin, do you have a preference?

I think we just need to know what you want done here - if it's changing a cname, we can do that.  If it's changing a string in the product, we can't do that.  So explicit instructions on what you need done is what we need to finish out this bug.

For this bug, we need to change the server-side redirect for http://zh-CN.fxfeeds.mozilla.com/zh-CN/firefox/headlines.xml to point to the URL in comment 0, rather than the newsrss.bbc.co.uk URI that it currently redirects to.

We will need to do this for several other locales as they request it. If it's OK with you, I will ask the localizers to file a server-ops bug like this one for each individual request, and have Mic approve the change in those bugs.

Seems reasonable to open requests to get these updated when they need to be.  If it gets to be high volume we can investigate better ways of doing it.

http://zh-cn.fxfeeds.mozilla.com/zh-CN/firefox/headlines.xml still redirects me to BBC, which might be due to me asking the AMS cluster. We should in particular verify that the CN datacenter knows about this, too.
