User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Comcast Install 1.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; InfoPath.2; Media Center PC 5.0) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020514 Firefox/3.0b3 I am running on an HP Pavilion Turion 64x2 with Vista. Recently, late January or early Februrary 2008 Firefox began crashing...concidently after installing latest verison. It seems to crash only with MySpace pages. I can view my email, blogs, even a few friends pages, then unexpectedly it crashes. Sometime after 1 or 2 minutes, other times after 5 or 20 minutes. I can reload the same pages and it works fine one time, another time it crashes. I can't seem to find rhyme or reason. I switched to the Beta Version hoping it would work. My other XP computer is working fine. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use MySpace. 2. Read Email 3. Open other people's profiles in another tab. Actual Results: Firefox crashes! Expected Results: Firefox should load and display the page. NO CRASHES! Help me PLEASE! Explorer has always crashed with MySpace on this Vista machine, now Firefox has recently started doing so too! And worst of all I have become hooked on the nice features of FireFox.
Please first try it in the Firefox safemode. (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode) Please post a breakpad id if you still get crashes in the safemode. You should get the ID from about:crashes (enter it as URL) if you use Beta3 or later builds.
For the record, "Seamonkey" "Nightly" "Suite" doesn't crash: Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008022108 SeaMonkey/2.0a1pre Hope this helps narrow things down.
I am not sure what "Seamonkey" "Nightly" "Suite" means or why I would even care if it crashes or not. I will try Safe Mode and get back to you.
I tried safe mode. It crashed. I then started FireFox again in safemode and put "about:crashes" in as the URL and I got... Submitted Crash Reports No crash reports have been submitted. So now what?
The comment about Seamonkey nightly shouldn't help you. It's a comment that he can't reproduce the crash. Bugzilla is not for helping you or giving you support, it's a tool for the developers to track their work on Firefox, Seamonkey and Gecko Without stack trace or someone who can reproduce this we can do nothing. I don't know why breakpad doesn't catch the crash...
if it also crashes in IE then shouldn't your first suspect be your PC?
Version: unspecified → Trunk
To WAYNE...NO...why suspect my PC? IE crashes rarely, FireFox crashes regularly, like nearly every time and nearly instantly. IE also crashes on other machines running WinXP with about the same frequency. FireFox does not. Has the FireFox test team even tested this on a 64 bit dual core PC running Vista and going to MySpace.com profile pages. My guess is NO! But if they have and they don't get these errors, then I would suspect my PC. Lately when it crashes it tells me it is due to data execution. If you can detect data execution can you not just stop data execution while letting FireFox continue to run?
I wouldn't know. Regardless, please post crash id from one or both of the following http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback#Getting_an_incident_ID http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports
The Talkback link is wrong because this is FF3 and it comes with Breakpad and not with Talkback. What we need is a stacktrace that y can get with breakpad or if you follow : http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_with_WinDbg
