RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 400447

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020514 Firefox/3.0b3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020514 Firefox/3.0b3

I'm using Fx3, as you might see... and I noticed there's (currently?) no way to reorder bookmarks in the bookmarks bar by drag&drop... and I have some folders there like "Forums" where I actually store links to forums I visit a few times a day... and it's being cluttered right now... so I want to request a feature:
Adding a context menu item "Sort alphabetically", allowing the user to order bookmarks in the current subfolder by their first letters.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Well... add a folder to your bookmarks bar and put some bookmarks into it. Then try to order them. ;)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008022400 Minefield/3.0b4pre

Not clear what you mean; bookmarks toolbar or sidebar? In both I can drag bookmarks to another place.
I can also sort them alphabetically. Right click on the folder -> Sort by Name.
Please give more exact steps to reproduce.

Well... the item "Sort by name" exists (just found it :D), but it's always greyed out, so I thought it's not implemented yet or sth?
sort by name sorts the contents of a folder, so if you want to sort folder contents you right click on it and do.

if you want to sort toolbar or bookmarks menu open the Library (Bookmarks / Show all bookmarks) then right click on corresponding folder and choose Sort By name.

if that works please mark this bug as WORKSFORME, if still the item is greyed out report here.
The item is -always- greyed out.
are you right-clicking on a folder? the items is greyed out if you click on a bookmark
Ah... but why?

OK, so excuse my failure.... works for me, thanks for help... :(

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
