this is not working in FX2 too, so it's an enh request
navigating the bookmarks menu with keyboard could work better, actually you can only select a bookmark and press enter to visit it.
you should probably also be able to press DEL to remove it, and to use the context menu button on the keyboard (actually that opens the context menu of the main browser content)

It seems logical that Ctrl+Enter should open bookmarks in a new tab.

One request per bug report please.
> you should probably also be able to press DEL to remove it,
My 2 cents: it's too easy to accidentally type DEL and I think removing
a bookmark via the bookmarks menu is rarely used (and thus does not
need to have a key assigned to it).
Bug 257023 comment 2 is of the same opinion.
> context menu button on the keyboard
Sounds reasonable. And there is both "Cut" and "Delete" available
on the context menu. This is bug 212750

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
Gerv
Component: Places → Bookmarks & History
QA Contact: places → bookmarks
