Details
(Whiteboard: wontfix?)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008022906 Minefield/3.0b4pre
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008022906 Minefield/3.0b4pre
When a user presses the "display your bookmarks" button, it opens up a box on the left, which contains the bookmarks. When it does this, it squashes the web page being viewed. Instead, how about it hovers over the page like in IE7. This is one of the only feature that's good in IE, and Microsoft steal off Mozilla, so why don't we steal off them?
Reproducible: Always

We had this once indeed but it was taken out before the (many) bugs were fixed. I don't know the motivation; I think not many people were enthusiastic. I was one of the pop-up fans. Maybe something for an extension?

Perhaps we should wait until most bugs are fixed!

Well, IMO it's quite useless and annoying... it covers a part of the page, where currently shrinks the page but you can view and interact with it with no limitation. It could be an optional setting, but the default behaviour should remain the actual one.
Anyway in my IE7 the bookmark pane behaviour is the same of Firefox. Are you sure you haven't isntalled a plugin?

Since I don't use IE7 and I installed it only for security reasons, I think the answer is no ^___^
