Hi Stephen. Please QA as discussed.

Thanks,
John
Target Milestone: --- → 3.0
1) The template has XHTML 1.0 Strict validation errors

2) In IE 6, the "We're a global community..." text is split on either side of the FPO divider graphic; Opera 9.26 and Safari 3.04 are fine (as are Firefox 2/3). See screenshot: http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture4lo9.png

3) (Obviously) We should replace the FPO graphic before signing off
4) I think we want "Help other people on our message boards and support forums" [https://www-firefox3.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/support/] to link instead to http://support.mozilla.com, but Tenser--our Helpful Rockstar--would know for sure!!!111
Fixed the headline wrapping in r10882 and the support link in r10883.

I'm not sure what we mean by message boards here, since support.mozilla.com has a forum and liv
Yes, we should definitely point to SUMO, but the URL should be http://support.mozilla.com/[locale]/kb/, e.g. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/. Btw, people could help writing/editing knowledge base content and helping users in Live Chat sessions too. Oh, and we don't have message boards. Is this "Get Involved" page more for Mozilla support in general, or is it for Firefox support? Depending on the focus, we might want to adjust the wording here.

Btw: "Help write or edit documentation for developers and end-users"

Isn't MDC purely a developer's resource? People who want to write end-user documentation should go to SUMO.
Please disregard the first incomplete sentence in my previous comment. Sorry about the bugspam! :)
All the content on this page is a carryover from the existing Get Involved page on Mozilla.com (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/about/get-involved.html) so some of the copy - like the message board reference - might be outdated. If so, please feel free to suggest a more accurate version.

However this page has already been localized (it's also a FF2 in-product page) so I'd prefer to keep the text changes to a minimum. Eventually we'll replace this entire page with something a bit more useful, but that's a long term project.

Thanks,
John
If it's already been localized, I think we should just leave it as it is and wait for the long term project (please keep me posted!). Just changing the URL is enough.
The support link has the language code added now (r10901).
All's fine with this one except for the iframe.

Steven: that's a template issue that can be spun-off, right? There are still 4 validation errors, though.
iframe will be fixed in template, and the 4 validation errors are fixed. Marking as FIXED.

Steven, seeing a minor IE-6-broken-rendering-until-I-mouseover-a-link issue; perhaps I should file a spin-off bug?

If you can reproduce, and do a quick fix here, that'd be awesome. I'll attach a screenshot, but basically:

Under "Easy Ways to Get Involved", the link text for "Contact web sites that don't work properly" renders but not "with Mozilla projects" and the next link until you mouseover the area.

I'm leaving as Resolved FIXED so that it's up to you whether to fix this here or somewhere else; clearly an IE 6 bug that might require a hacky workaround.
(I truncated the screenshot just to save size.)
I can no longer reproduce; Steven, did one of your other changes fix this?

Yeah, I had some changes to help the footer be a bit more stable in IE - that probably explains this issue going away.
Looks good; verified!

Hi guys. I know Tenser brought this up several comments earlier and I sort of pushed back at the time, but now I'm thinking that we need to split the "help write or edit documentation" link into two separate links.

Here's how it should work:

1. Link #1 should be "Help write or edit documentation for developers" and should point directly to http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/MDC:How_to_Help (currently it redirects there, but originally points to an old link)
2. Link #2 should be "Help write or edit documentation for end users" and should link to http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Contributor+Home+Page

Thanks!

Is it too late to change the URL for the end user help? If possible, I think http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+contribute would make more sense, seeing as we're thinking of separating this introduction page for new contributors from a "contributor portal" page for experienced contributors that want to dig deeper.

If it's too late, that's fine; we can just setup a server redirect if we really want to rename the page. Just wanted to ask in case there is still time. :)

That change is fine with me...I assume it's not too late to make this fix. Steven, can you update the link?

Sorry about being off-topic, but I just noticed that the page /en-US/firefox/community/index.html also links to http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Contributor+Home+Page, so it needs to be changed to http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+contribute as well.

Do I need to file a separate bug for that?

Don't bother - done in r12604.
When you apply a patch that affects all locale, you should file the follow-up bug for localized versions to make sure these changes are tracked and available to all of our users. Thanks.

Filed bug 431197 for that
