Out of curiosity I watched Mozilla starting up with a file monitor,
which monitors the access to the harddrive. Could it be possible that
plugins are initialized twice during startup (at least those that reside
in the NS4.x plugin directory)? I've attached a zipped log-file, which I
stripped down to the interesting part.

This was monitored in build 2000060720.

Christian, are you able to set a breakpoint at
http://lxr.mozilla.org/seamonkey/source/modules/plugin/nglsrc/nsPluginHostImpl.c
pp#2408 to see if LoadPlugins() is being called twice?
It seems to be working properly for me but I do have a few patches to
nsPluginHostImpl.cpp that aren't in the tree yet.
Sorry, but I'm no developer :(
Does your build run with the stdout console trace statements?
If so, do you see lines that say "plugins at"?
There should only be one that has the 4x plugin directory and one other that has
the mozilla plugins directory.
Sorry, I don't have a debug build, only the optimized from mozilla.org
Do you have any files named np*.dll in your nn4x plugins directory that don't
have Version information (check by right-clicking the each np*.dll in Windows
explorer, selecting the Properties menuitem and seeing if there is a Version
tab on the properties window that comes up)?

This might be related to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39534.

Yes, it seems that I somehow messed up the installation of your beatnik player
:).
I removed the 0 byte files and the problem didn't appear anymore.

Marking as DUP of 39534.
