When I am just casually browsing the internet after 3 or 4 different web pages Firefox stops. (Just like clicking the stop button) I cannot go to any other web pages and I cannot use refresh.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox
2. Go to 3 or 4 pages
3. Firefox stops
Actual Results:
Firefox says stopped in the status bar and I cannot resume

Expected Results:
It should have resumed browsing instead of getting stuck on stop

^^^ My Buildconfig
This works for me using Firefox 2.0.0.12 and a new profile on Windows XP.
You could try out the following trouble-shooting options:

- Firefox's safe-mode to exclude extension/theme problems
- a new profile
- a reinstall in a new empty folder

I frequently click on a link and nothing happens. Status bar on lower left of window says STOPPED. I must shutdown Firefox, then go to task manager and kill the firefox task before I can restart Firefox. I had the same issue on Firefox 2. I have uninstalled Firefox as well as Java, deleted the Mozilla folders in both the Application Data folder as well as the Program Files folder, then reinstalled but it's still not fixed. Windows XP SP2, Java 6.5 environment.
Do you have any other suggestions? I can repeat if you need additional doc.

OK, does this happen with 3.5.3 or later in a new Firefox profile? Also, please give a link to a website that shows this.
This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME
