Shouldn't you be able to type text into the address bar immediately like Firefox 2.0? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I changed the summary to enhance it, please try to be more explicit next time. This being said, I don't repro under Windows XP and I doubt it would not have been seen under Vista before. Is there anything special in your reproduction steps ? Doesn't happen for me with Ctrl+T or File/New Tab. If you are referring to another method of opening tabs, explain which one.

Nope. Still not working even with a new profile and with all themes and extensions disabled.
Making a new profile means you shouldn't have any extensions or theme to disable in the first place. When you made your new theme, was your extension list empty?
Yes it was empty.
Sorry I forgot to mention but I also tried it in Firefox Safe Mode.
