t send emails with Thunderbird but I can recieve them.I called their support people and they tell me that the issue is with Thunderbird and we tried to resolve the problem but we can't.Could you please help me with this as I prefer to continue with Thunde

when I use thunder bird to get emails with sympatico.ca I have the following problem,I cannot send emails or email reply s .I can receive emails ok .I contacted sympatico support and we tried to resolve the issue , we couldn't .Here is the message I get when I try to send an email or email reply .
Sending of mail failed.The message could not be sent because connecting to the SMTP server smtphm.sympatico.ca failed .
I was told that Sympatico has recently changed their servers for emails and that Thunderbird doesn't work with the new servers ,it did work with the old ones without a hitch.The problem started March 4,2008 and everything was great before then .Their tech people tried to help me but can't .
Any help would be appreciated as I prefer to continue using Thunderbird .Thanks for your time .

Most likely a firewall/antivirus problem. (So try to disable the firewall.)
