User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020514 Firefox/3.0b3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b3) Gecko/2008020514 Firefox/3.0b3 The Chinese tools program, Dr Eye, can automatically look-up words, Chinese or English, under the cursor on the screen. Starting with Firefox 3 Beta 3, this look-up no longer works. It is as if a change in the Firefox display routine has made it impossible to get the information about what text is currently under the cursor. I am using Windows XP, and have experienced no problem with previous versions of Firefox, including Firefox 3 betas. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run Firefox Beta 3 and Dr Eye in any order 2. Enable Dr Eye instant look-up option 3. Actual Results: Dr Eye does not do any look-ups. Expected Results: When the cursor is over a word, a Dr Eye window opens. In the window is a Chinese translation if the word is English, and an English translation if the word is Chinese. I'm using Dr Eye version 7. My OS is XP SP2.

You should ask the author of this third-üarty tool why this doesn't work. This is no bug in Firefox

I had thought I had tested Dr Eye with Firefox 3 beta 2, but I didn't. Testing it, I found it doesn't work with that beta either. Since Dr Eye works with the vast majority of other applications, including Firefox 2, I can only assume that some change in the display routine makes the text data unavailable (or available in a different form) in Firefox 3. I doubt if Dr Eye would go through the effort to make its products work with Firefox 3. I just thought I'd let you know that something that has changed in the display routine has rendered Firefox 3 non-standard on the PC. I can always cut and paste text into an application which does work with Dr. Eye if I find a compelling reason to use Firefox 3.
