+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #408115 +++

Since bug 408115 did the backend for us, all we should need to do is find an appropriate time in startup to dig the list of new add-ons out of the extensions.newAddons pref and open the extension manager with that list.

I'm inclined toward blocking-tb3 because there are so many ways that something can install an extension behind your back where this is your only real notice until I say in your bug "no, really, go look: does the EM say you have any extensions installed, even though you say you didn't install any?"

Seems like a good low-hanging fruit.

Given some of the response to the Firefox version of this it might be worth waiting for the outcome of bug 447570. Dunno how long that might be though.

Despite the interest, bug 447570 never got implimented. Not sure where it puts this bug.

Do we still care? STM we should only notify if there was a failure.

The add-ons manager isn't under our maintenance and there was a lot of changes since then. Geoff is also on rebuilding the newAddon page to show them when new extensions are directly loaded into the extension directory.
