Deltapi, does it work if you spoof your user-agent string as Firefox 2? It's quite possible the site doesn't know anything about "Firefox 3".

If it's broken in Seamonkey as well, that might be a further suggestion that it's a site problem. It looks like they're doing quite a bit of name-based sniffing in the page source on

http://www.banking.first-direct.com

which makes me very strongly suspect this is a TE bug.

To Chris Lawson:
Am afraid not technically versed in such things as 'spoofing'. However, since the release of V3 Beta 5 the problem appears to have gone away. Can't explain why but there we are. I will keep an eye on future releases, just in case it reverts to being problematic.

Can you try it with Seamonkey, please? If you'd rather not try it with Seamonkey, you could use something like the User-Agent Switcher add-on

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59

to pretend that Firefox is a different browser (ideally something like Camino or Seamonkey, which support the same functionality as Firefox but are often unnecessarily excluded from Web sites because the site is looking specifically for "Firefox").

Reopening until we know for sure that this isn't a tech evangelism bug.

Hello again, Chris
Did not even know what Seamonkey was. Anyway, I know now!
Downloaded it and used it to access www.firstdirect.com and had no problems at all logging in and displaying my banking details.
Hope that helps.

Dave

Based on comment 4, this sounds like it's no longer a problem, and since we don't have any way to conclusively identify it as being a sniffing issue, resolving WORKSFORME.
