Irritating 5 pixel bar at the top off the full screen mode screen.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre)
Gecko/2008031109 Minefield/3.0b5pre

Steps:-
* on menu "Tools > Options > Tabs"
* uncheck "Always show the tab bar"
* close Tools > Options window.
* open new firefox window with one tab
* press F11 to see full screen mode
* firefox then put a 5 pixel bar at top.
* move mouse to top of the 5 px bar
* the bar hides.
* take mouse away 5px bar reappears

Expected:
On full screen with only one tab the 5px bar should not appear.

Expected option 2:
If you cant avoid the 5px bar, dont hide when mouse comes near/over it.

PS: sliding is irritating to eyes.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre)
Gecko/2008031109 Minefield/3.0b5pre
Or in other words, when there only one tab
I am looking for an effect similar to
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre)
Gecko/2008022806 Minefield/3.0b4pre
with browser.tabs.autoHide = true

and if there are multiple tab may be the 5px bar at top as in
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre)
Gecko/2008031405 Minefield/3.0b5pre
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5.

Regarding the expected behavior, I think it makes sense to have the 5px bar as long as there is something hidden that can be displayed on mouseover.

Using the above version, I can't reproduce this as long as I have the Navigation Toolbar showing under View > Toolbars, nor would I expect to be able to do so; even without the tab bar, the Navigation Toolbar is hidden in full screen mode, so the 5px bar makes sense to me.

However, if I hide the Navigation Toolbar and the tab bar, then I see the 5px bar in full screen mode, despite nothing being hidden. All it does on mouseover is flicker needlessly, similar to what is described in the bug description.

I think the STR need to be:

* uncheck "Navigation Toolbar" under View > Toolbars
* on menu "Tools > Options > Tabs"
* uncheck "Always show the tab bar"
* close Tools > Options window.
* open new firefox window with one tab
* press F11 to see full screen mode
* firefox then put a 5 pixel bar at top.
* move mouse to top of the 5 px bar
* the bar hides or flickers.
* take mouse away 5px bar reappears

Reporter, can you confirm the behaviors I see?

Yes, we need to hide "Navigation Toolbar" also.

PS: I missed it because in my normal profile I always hide "Navigation Toolbar" after merging the Navigation buttons to Menu bar.

Thanks for correcting.

Is this WFM with FF4beta and XP?
WFM in FF 4 beta and win7, I think. but I'm not sure without a screen shot.

But the steps really mess with the win7 UI - perhaps it's just full screen in general being funkey
Severity: normal → minor
First time I noticed this was fixed when I tested bug 587209 fix.
So I assume bug 587209 fixed it. If it is not you can make this WFM
