FireFox will not recognize the Adobe Flash plugin. I tried the automatic way and the manual install. It always works on other programs, but I can't get it to work on FireFox.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start with no Flash installed, I guess.
2. Go to a Flash site, i.e. http://www.realmyst.com/intro.html
3. "Click to download plugin"
4. See an error and try manual install.
5. After manual install, try http://www.realmyst.com/intro.html again
Actual Results:
It still doesn't work
Expected Results:
Displayed the Flash object
I have a Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

"works on IE" is useless because IE is using ActiveX Plugin while all other browser are using npapi.
The error in the autmatic install is known (other bug which you should already know because you searched).
Do you use the manual install from the Plugin finder service window or do you use IE to do a manual install ?
Is the flash plugin npswf32.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

This looks more like a support issue, I am unaware of any bugs that actually prevent Flash working in Firefox. As stated above, IE uses a completely different plugin.
Please try installing the Flash plugin for Firefox from http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer/ (open in Firefox to be redirected to the correct page!)

From my own problem, identical to the Bug described this thread and always reproducible from any URL with Flash content, I have found no Application Extension C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\npswf32.dll to support Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124.0, up and running as an ActiveX for Internet Explorer on my system at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9f.ocx, accompanied by the binary C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9f.exe.
Furthermore, install_flash_player.exe, downloaded via:
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
failed to add the DLL described above, even after multiple attempts. Therefore having reason to suspect discontinuance of support for Firefox, I'm running this issue by Adobe as one specific to the Flash Player Installer. In the meantime, recommend continuing research into a possible workaround.
