Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Close "mail and newsgroups" window 2. attempt to make a new message Expected Results: new message window should open
What other Thunderbird windows do you have open when you want to do this?
Severity: minor → enhancement
Wayne, There are no other tbird windows open. I'd ideally like to have no other windows open. I want to be able to tab switch to the app and make a new message directly.
this is most closely a dupe of bug 208923

Wayne, I read thru the other bug, and while I think I see some of the conceptual similarities, I just wanted to be sure that I expressed what I meant to say. But on OS X the app remains running even if all the windows are closed. The app can be activated but the new message item (cmd-n) on the the message menu is inactive. It only becomes active again when the mail and newsgroups window (cmd-1) is open. I'm unclear as to why that function would need to be bound to the main window being open. Again i just want to be sure we are talking about the same things.
So on OS X you can close all windows (not minimize), and not have exited thunderbird?
Wayne, Yes it the default behavior of most Mac OS apps, it goes back a long ways.
